Korean Anti-Semitism
30 November 2006Recently, we have adapted our blog to be read in 8 additional languages. These languages are represented by flags on the right side of your screen and will open up our commentary to the large non-English speaking population of the world. Unfortunately, our translations also open us up to the possibility of receiving hateful comments and feedback in other languages. We’re under no illusions - not everybody will agree with what we say. However, we were rather stunned by a comment that we received for a really old blog entry on anti-Semitism in France.
The comment was:
“더럽고 지저분한 유태인
바퀴벌레는 지구상에서 사라져야 한다. 그것은 인간에게 피해를 주기 때문이다. 유대인들 또한 바퀴벌레와 같아서 지구상에서 멸종 해야할 것들이다.
Dirty jews”
which loosely translates to:
Who knew that Koreans had such anti-Semetic feelings???

The antisemetic rhetoric with Asians is growing. I don’t understand the origins of the sentiments coming from Korea, but the antisemitism from the Asians living in the west I’m familiar with.
The #1 issue with Asians in the U.S. has to do with the emasculation of the Asian male and the resulting outmarraige of Asian women to white men. Many feel that its the media that’s to blame. Since it’s a “Jewish controlled media”, many Asian males blame Jews in general for stereotyping them as “asexual”, geeky”…. just making them look like losers in general.
That is, of course, false. Stereotypes have a way of being self-reinforcing and if no one explicitly counters the stereotype, it becomes “true” in people’s minds. But many Asian males, especially those who are socially inept, won’t take the time to improve their own social skills to overcome the stereotypes placed upon them; instead, frustrated at their lack success with women, they engage in anti-semetic rhetoric on the internet.
