Of course, the reason why these vast contributions aren’t known worldwide, is because of disproportionate focus on Israel’s military power (which is necessary for it’s existence) and of course, the UN’s atrocious voting record against Israel over the last 60 years.
The biggest surprises in this poll were the results from Canada and Australia (in that 2/3 and 4/5 thought of Israel negatively, respectfully), Nigeria and Kenya (that had more positive than negative views of Israel).
All we can learn from this poll is that there is still latent anti-Semitism in the world, especially in Europe, and that people don’t understand Israel and don’t know anything about Israel’s contributions to the world.
The twelve countries who were the focus in the poll were: Britain, Canada, China, France, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, North Korea, Russia, the USA, Venezuela, and the European Union.Individuals were polled in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

They didn’t ask me here in New Zealand!
But then they wouldn’t have got the answer they wanted would they?
1. The UN is the biggest danger to world peace.
2. The League of Nations/British mandate should be Israel.
3. The Arab refugees should be assimilated into Islamic countries.
4. No non-democracy should be able to vote at the UN.
5. There should be no permament Security Council members.

Michael,
I agree with all of your points, except perhaps #5. Had the US not had a seat at the Security Council, given the belligerency of the UN toward Israel, I would imagine that the Security Council would have mandated war against Israel by now.
I believe that the #1 point is only true because the #4 point is true. Were UN to only have democratic representation, I think that they would be much more able to secure world peace. Generally, democratic countries are happy to secure peace for their people and to ensure financial growth and stability.
Are your views typical in New Zealand?

This article doesn’t shock me at all. In the Bible, it says in the end times, that all nations will hate, and none will protect Israel. Thank the Lord that the US still honors the Covenant made between God and his people Israel. God specifically stated, the nations that bless Israel, will also be blessed. Why do you think the US has been the most powerful and prosperous country in history. It will be a sad day, and it will come, when the US pulls the last plug on supporting Israel. God bless Israel, and the Great United States.
