Iranian Death Judge Lands Seat on UN Human Rights Council

24 June 2006

The United Nations never ceases to amaze us here at Middle East Facts. As if the United Nations wasn’t corrupt enough, they’ve taken another step in the wrong direction - giving a seat on the UN Human Rights Council to Saeed Mortazavi, an individual who is an accused participant of murder and rape (in the case of Canadian-Iranian journalist Zahra Kazemi), who has closed down over 100 anti-regime newspapers, who jailed students leading pro-democracy demonstrations in Tehran in 1999 and clearing the security officials accused of torturing them. Is this the type of person the United Nations thinks should be on the Human Rights Council?

For more information on this ridiculous display of stupidity at the United Nations, see the full article in the New York Sun.
