Hamas: In their own voices
29 January 2009So you think Israel should make peace with the Palestinians? We do too. Some people come up with these twisted arguments that Israel is responsible for the lack of peace. Israel’s leaders have constantly been praising peace, while the Palestinian leaders have constantly been praising war. It’s unfortunate that some people feel that Israel is somehow responsible. Here is Hamas in their own voices, all before the war began in December and many during the ceasefire. Among the quotes:
- “We in Hamas, and I think most of the other forces, say loud and clear that after December 19, 2008, the tahdiah (ceasefire) will end, and will not be renewed.” – Khaled Mash’al, Head of Hamas (living in Syria), Al-Quds TV, Lebanon
- “Very soon, Allah willing, Rome will be conquered, just like Constantinople was… Today, Rome is the capital of the Catholics, or the Crusader capital, which has declared its hostility to Islam…in order to prevent the reawakening of Islam – this capital of theirs will be an advanced post fot the Islamic conquests, which will spread through Europe in its entirety, and then will turn to the two Americas, and even Eastern Europe.” – Yunis Al-Astal, Hamas MP & Cleric, Al-Aqsa TV
- “Allah willing, ‘you will be victorious,’ while America and Israel will be annihilated, Allah willing…and kill them all, down to the very last one.” Sheik Ahmad Bahr, Palestinian Legislative Council, Acting Speaker, Sudan TV (Iran)
- “Oh Americans, Allah will punish you.? The time has come for Allah to declare war on you, oh usurers!” – Ismail Haniya, Hamas Prime Minister, Al-Aqsa TV (during the ceasfire – 10/15/08)
- “We have come here to say, as we burn the American flag, with the grace of Allah…We salute the resistance in Afghanistan, which humiliates the American army, the army of Bush, by the grace of Allah.” – Mushir Al-Masri, Hamas MP, Al Jazeera TV
- “By the grace of Allah, killing a single Jew is the same as killing 30 million Jews” – Fathi Hammad, Hamas MP, Al-Aqsa TV (Note: there are only 15 million Jews in the world, idiot!)
- “As Muslims, our blood vengeance against them will only subside with their annihilation, Allah willing” – Wael Al-Zarad, Hamas Cleric, Al-Aqsa TV
- “The annihilation of the Jews here in Palestine is one of the most splendid blessings for Palestine.” – Muhsen Abu Ita, Hamas Cleric, Al-Aqsa TV
- “Yes, Allah is greater than America. Allah is greater than the superpowers. We say this to the West – ‘By Allah you will be defeated’.? Today, the Arab and Islamic nation is rising and awakening – it will regain the leadership of the world.” – Khaled Mash’al, Head of Hamas (living in Syria), Al-Jazeera TV

To be sure, these comments from the Hamas top brass are not gestures of peace and show that their line of thinking is “divinely inspired”. This should be a wakeup call for people who think Israel is responsible for there not being peace. This is about more that Israel – Israel is just their first step. God help Israel and all of us who want peace…
