Hamas Blames the Palestinians for the Situation in Gaza

28 August 2006

According to th Jerusalem Post, Hamas has must admitted what the rest of the world has known for months - that Gaza is spiralling downward and that it has nothing to do with Israel. The following comments were made recently by Ghazi Hamad, spokesman for the Palestinian Authority government and Hamas member:

Wow. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, but Mr. Hamad left out one important point - that the above points show that the Palestinians are not capable of running their own country. They claim to want independence, but they are not capable of being independent, at least at this point. That Hamas is actually making statements like this is reassuring, although they did only release it to the Arab press. Could this be a turning point in Palestinian politics, where Palestinians finally see their failings and do something about it? Only time will tell.

Given the above, we have a few questions for Palestinian supporters. Israel completed their withdrawal from Gaza on September 12, 2005. Since that time, according to Ghazi Hamad, 500 Palestinians have been killed (presumably only in Gaza) by Palestinians. Where is the outrage from the Muslim world at 500 Muslims being killed? Is it acceptable for Muslims to kill Muslims? Where are the protest marches around the world by Muslims condeming the killing?
