Israel the Scapegoat
Michael Zaretski
On Tuesday the 11th of September 2001 I said to myself, “all is now changed.
The world will finally understand what Israel is up against and be supportive.”
How wrong I was. Not only did the world not become more supportive, but actually
the image of the state of Israel deteriorated. Instead of seeing the situation
in Israel as the firstfruits of Islamic terrorism and realising that the cancer
would spread everywhere unless mercilessly countered, the West turned to appease
the aggressor, and Israel came to be seen as the cause of terrorism. If only
the state of Israel had never been founded, the West claimed, there would be
no terrorism.
A few words about myself before proceeding to the meat of the article: I am
an internal-politics left-winger. I support personal freedoms for all people
and the intervention of the government in the economy to help the disadvantaged.
But I do not share my fellow left-wingers’ views as to external politics,
especially not their blind siding with the Palestinians against Israel, as I
have survival in mind, and as I do not buy into the Palestinians’ self-made
image as “indigenous people”, “the Indians of their land”
and “noble savages in harmony with the soil and struggling for self-determination.”
A Final Solution
“Zionism the greatest evil.” But do you even know how Zionism got
started in the first place? I may have left Orthodox Judaism, for personal reasons,
but I cannot like Bertrand Russel and Ibn Warraq write an essay or book called
“Why I Am Not A Jew”—I am still a Jew. And I know Jewish history
well.
Theodor Herzl, a reporter working for the Viennese Neue Freie Presse, watched
the going-on in France in the years 1894–6, when a Jewish officer was
tried and exiled for treason and then returned. He watched as, during those
two years, the cultural heart of the world, France, was inundated by the most
rabid Jew-hatred. And his conclusion was: if this, the allegedly most civilised
nation in the world, could sink to such a depth of bigotry, then the problem
is radical and the solution can only be radical; away from the Diaspora, then,
to a place Jews could call theirs, their home, to govern themselves. Thus began
Zionism.
He was a true prophet, Herzl was. Another civilised nation performed genocide
on the Jews. The rabbis of Hungary “prophesied” safety and security
for their flock after having obtained emigration certificates for themselves
for British Palestine, whereas Herzl, 50 years beforehand, prophesied that the
cancer of Jew-hatred would not skip Hungarian Jewry.
But the Palestinian Constitution, still unrepealed, says, “the Jews are
the citizens of the states in which they live.” Just that. The Jews can
give the Palestinians not only the West Bank and Gaza, but also Tel Aviv and
Haifa, and pack their bags to go to a happy and safe life in Europe. They have
always been happy in the Diaspora. The non-Jews have never done them any wrong,
nay, always treated them as equals, as their own. They were always welcome citizens,
even in 1935. And the Holocaust? It never happened, that’s just a lie
the Jews keep on promulgating to gain sympathy.
There are so many places with much more atrocious human rights violations than
Israel. Like Darfur in Sudan. Like North Korea. Like Saudi Arabia. Yet the West
keeps harping on about Israel, Israel, Israel all the time! The state of Israel
is being held to a moral standard that no other state has ever been or is being
held to. This despite the fact—and I can say this, I live there!—that
it is still a democracy, the only democracy in the Middle East. More than a
half century of wars has not caused it to become a dictatorship. Amazing for
a state said to be the embodiment of all political evil, isn’t it?
You Next
The West interprets the fact of terrorism being in Israel first and then coming
to American and Europe as a sign that Israel is the cause of it all. This is
an entirely wrong-headed interpretation! Israel is but a beacon, a warning sign.
Islamic terrorism started in Israel because of its proximity to the Islamic
world. Instead of taking advantage of it to prepare themselves, Western states
have resorted to a policy of appeasement.
“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last,”
said Winston Churchill. Remember that, my dear Londoners? It didn’t work
with Hitler, so it’s not going to work with Islamic imperialism either.
Appeasement won’t work with people who think the whole world is rightfully
theirs. It won’t work with any kind of Dominionists, whether Nazi, Communist,
Jewish, Christian or Islamic.
Now that the Soviet Union is gone, a new entity is striving to fill the vacuum.
The Cold War has been replaced by a Hot War between the West and Islamic imperialists.
Israel came first because it’s the closest geographically; but geography
is no longer a barrier.
Orthodox Jewish Dominionists—the mirror-image of the Islamic ones in
this land—notwithstanding, the state of Israel was founded to revive a
culture, to enable a people to thrive without fear. But the Palestinian state?
The goal of its foundation is different. It is justice and honour: to restore
honour after the alleged 1948 and 1967 humiliations of the Palestinian Arabs
and to institute justice by bringing the land to its rightful owners. Justice
and honour, those are the keywords here. You have heard of the Muslim man killing
his sister for going out with another man to whom the family has not betrothed
her? Honour-killing, you call it, right? 9/11 is the same thing, the same damn
thing, just on a larger scale: for restoring their honour. It’s an honour-based
society. Just like the society of the Bible, another book that documents, if
not condones, so many honour-based atrocities. It’s a society that it’s
not, really really not, in the interests of Western left-wingers to support.
Left-Wing Lunacy
The Western Left supports indigenous cultures, “noble savages”,
people sprung from the soil and in harmony with nature. But have you Western
Leftists ever been to a Palestinian town?! Look at the women there, just look,
will you? They’re covered from head to toe! And they’re in no way
in harmony with nature, for they believe in a book that tells them that this
planet is property of an external creator given to mankind to use as they see
fit.
And they are book-people. Book-religionists. They follow a religious law-code
that regulates every aspect of their lives, from tying shoelaces to crowning
kings. They are not free in any sense of the word—they are true and self-confessed
slaves of a heavenly despot. And they believe all of humanity should be slaves
of that heavenly despot. You Leftists shun the Religious Right for those very
faults; why, then, do you support the Muslims?
I love the Left. I’m an avowed Leftist. It’s because of this that
it pains me to see the Western Left losing its sanity. Ayatollah Khomeini had
Iranian Leftists murdered by the thousands; the fate of Western Leftists under
Islamic rule isn’t going to be any different. The Left must regain its
senses and realise who is on its side and who is on the other. Dominionists
of all stripes, economic or political, are the enemy. The trade monopolists
are the enemy. The Religious Right in America is the enemy. The Orthodox Jewish
Temple Restorationists are the enemy. The Islamic imperialists are the enemy.
The state of Israel, in and of itself, so long as it does not cave in to the
whims of the aforementioned Orthodox Jews, is not the enemy.
The Left should stand up for Western values. The Left should be at the forefront
of this fight to solve the problem, radically, by Westernising the world. By
abolishing veils for women. By outlawing honour killings. By forcing all residents
of the West to conform to Western values. By inseminating Western values in
the Islamic world. Not monoculture, not cultural imperialism, but the eradication
of the bad aspects. So that the Islamic world may go back again to being able
to boast of such luminaries as Al-Khawarizmi and Ibn Sinaa.
If appeasement is stopped and the larger context is grasped, the problem has
a chance of being solved. May the world of freedom and fairness stand up against
Dominionism in all its guises.
